I'm a bass. For real. My voice teacher says I'm a "true bass," not a bass-baritone like many men with the capacity for low pitches (he happens to be one). He says 96% of men are baritones. Of the remainder, two percent are basses, and two percent are tenors. Regardless of the statistical accuracy, this claim isn't far from the truth. In any case, if you are "true tenor," then maybe you should forget listening to my singing tips. Head voice can be a tough thing for me. ;)
My voice-related aspirations include: movie-preview-announcer voice talent, syndicated radio DJ (such as John Tesh), professional singer/performer, cartoon voice talent, amongst others.
Only one of these directly involves singing, and yet singing is largely what I'm involved in currently.
This is worth considering.
I've created this blog to help both people who want to sing well and people who want to speak well.
And in my opinion, the first place to start is singing/voice lessons.
This blog is mainly geared towards men. At 21 years old I can only say my understanding of the male voice is the one worth taking something from. And I won't just be talking about singing and strictly keeping theme to stage-performance formality. Oh no. This blog will explore everything from singing technique to public speaking; from shouting across a field to talking on the phone; from sex-noises to bed-time stories.
And I think I'm going to mostly gear it in the direction of reflecting upon the vocal events of my days as they come. I will also, of course, respond to questions with my posts - from emails you send me to forum posts I run into.
I hope this turns out to be valuable to you.
Hi, Josh. Great to see you setting up a blog. I'm eagerly waiting for some content. Cheers.
